This little basket of an unknown epi. is putting out a show of tiny little white, frilly flowers. Do you know what type of epi this may be? Its flower-buds were formed outdoor in the growing seasons, currently it's indoor for winter-vacation.

those are definately a rhipsalis, unsure which one.

thanks lismil. that narrows the search down.

Looks like Rhipsalis elliptica, which was showing up from Angel Plants a lot in the last year or so. I get that from picture #2 with the distinctive leaf shape. Also, elliptica has 5 petal flowers with yellowish petals, so that is a match as well.

There are a number of other Rhipsalis that have similar leaves, so the ID is still tentative, but the flower adds confidence. Can you show a pic of the pot? Definitely Rhipsalis, probably elliptica.

That is so cute!
Thank you for sharing!

Krowten, I believe you've its identity correctly. Elliptica does ring the bell and yes, it's one of the Angels.

Lily, Yours is so beautiful with all the flowering going on. Tickle the open flowers to pollinate them and you will get berries (red or pink, I think!) which will add color and last a long time.

I love the fact that Angels is doing Rhipsalis but wish they would be more assertive about getting the names on the plants and getting them correct. Now is about the time when we start seeing the Rhipsalis Angels hit the local stores.

The Angel Rhipsalis in the pic behind the elliptical looks like R. micrantha?? How about a pic of that for the rest of the audience?

Thanks Krowten, I've an arrand to run this morning, but will return and take pic. of the questionable micrantha to share. I'll run down stair and tickle the elliptica real quick before heading out the door. Thanks for the tip. ^_^

I'm late on this but krowten is right in that the original plant in question is R. elliptica. I just noticed that the one I have over-wintering in the garage is getting buds!

Here is my R. elliptica. It is an Angel Plant and was correctly labeled.

Cville, This is interesting. From the pic of your plant, I would have been a lot less confident that yours was elliptica, due to the predominant shape of the leaves. Just goes to show you how much growing conditions can affect the appearance of this family. I would check the flowers on yours to verify its ID, the next time the opportunity presents, just to be sure. The flat leaf types are really tough for me to tell apart - I am never confident at this point :( having been confused about them too many times over the years.

Hi krowten. This one is 'elliptica'. Some of it looks just like Lily's pic #3 and I have ID'ed it several places as such. Exotic Angels Plants had it marked that way but I always try to double-check IDs (not just theirs). Some of it is budding now (Feb?) for some strange reason and the buds/flowers are identical to Lily's pic. ^_^

It is gorgeous! Does anyone know where I can buy one? Thanks, Linda

Greensburg, PA

Our local Lowes has one right now. Apparently Angel Plants has been shipping them in the last year to big box stores, so check your local ones. You can also purchase cuttings from Bob Smoley Garden World.

Thank you Krowten. I will look for 1. Have a great day.

Also look on ebay!

Central, AL(Zone 7b)

why ebay when it would cost you an arm and a leg. When you can go to Lowes and look for one?

Phelan, CA(Zone 8b)

Not all the Lowe's and HDs have them. I found mine at Walmart, and it was the only one left. I think you have to time your visits just right (in other words, just get lucky) to find one in those stores, as customers seem to snatch them up immediately.

This is still a beautiful plant. Can't find one at lowes but I will not give up. I am gonna look when I get to Ga. in October.
