Rosa Bianca Eggplant

silver spring, MD(Zone 7a)

Has anyone here grown Rosa Bianca Eggplants. I planted 4 different types of eggplants in my hydroponic garden and they're all doing fine. Two are lagging very far behind the others but I think I solved that problem. I lost the tags which is causing my problem. My big one is now producing, but they're white and bulbous. I didn't plant any white eggplants. Do the fruits come white first and then get the purple streaks as they mature? Are the plants very thorny or nearly thornless? Can anyone help me? Thanks in advance.

I did grow ROSA BIANCA and I am growing it again this year.
It is not one of my super favorite eggplant ... I love the taste of the classic purple one better ... but I love to grow a white eggplant.
The fruits start out white, but soon produce a fre purple streaks.
I don't recall having any problems with thorns.
I loooveee eggplants.

I grow Rosa Bianca, it is my favorite. The fruits start out white with purple streaks, some have more purple than others. It is nearly thornless. The plants are not as strong as some of the hybrids and mites love them. Mine are still alive, under cover, even after freezing temps. They do much better in hot weather though.
My second favorite is Egyptian Purple, also non bitter. Those plants are huge.

Thanks, based on your responses I think it is the Rosa that's fruiting. Its the other ones with the huge thorns. They're the Japanese heirlooms then because the other one is Ping Tung that I've grown before. They're all doing great in my Emily's Garden along with peppers and green beans. I'm planning on growing tomatoes in one in the family room as soon as I get another setup.

Thanks again

My Rosa Bianca is growing much slower than the other eggplants right now.
She is 10" tall maybe.
I love Dusky eggplant.
