OK, it's not like I won't see plenty of grackles this year, but still I'm wondering which grackle this is. Only got the one pic.

Not sure here - hard to judge the size of it, or to tell the tail length!

Maybe a Common Grackle. I have a hard time with Black Birds also, but I think the bright yellow eye is a clue. Look at the similar birds here-http://www.allaboutbirds.org/guide/Common_Grackle/id
