CLOSED: What bird is this?

Rockport, TX(Zone 9a)

A sparrow of some type? Several of them were hanging out at the edge of a cement-bottom bayou with some killdeer and a larger shorebird that I haven't ID'd yet. This one ran up the cement bank to the grass when I approached. Here is pic 1.

Thank you! Thank you. Sometimes, I just don't know where to look!

Hey Elphaba, is this a lifer for you? I added one to my lifer list on Jan 12 of 2011.

Here's one of mine.

That's a great pic Hack! Not a lifer -- but not by much. Saw my first one only about a month ago! It's not one that I have registered in my head yet (obviously since I thought it was a big sparrow!)

Elphaba, if I see one again, I'm not sure that I''ll remember it either, doesn't seen to have any outstanding features, at least, none I picked up on.

Yep, pipits are fairly dowdy birds! At least you only have two species to worry about, over here, there's three common and another 6 or 7 rare ones to sort between ;-)
