SOUNDS LIKE THERE IS AN INTEREST IN THE SNOWBALL BUSH.
I sent Louisa the one baby plant that I had. I will try
some cuttings, If you want one stay in touch.
Also if you like viburnums-I rooted viburnum shasta last
year and it did very well. They are about 16 inches now survived perfectly planted outside this winter. If you want
one of these now you would have to really tempt me. I love this viburnum and will be rooting more this year.
JJ
Any information on cutting and rooting, especially when to
cut would be helpful as I am a newbie pretty much at cutting
and rooting. Thanks JJ

JJ - I emailed you about the 'baby' you sent to me. It was in it's new home five minutes after I received it. You are a very generous person. Did you get my email with the picture on layering plants? You never mentioned it, I don't think. I see by your last post above that you want tips on rooting cuttings. Layering is really easy and foolproof. Dave will no doubt point you to a site on how to take cuttings etc. I had a viburnum in my last garden and it was a Better Homes and Garden plant. It was about 2' tall when I bought it. In two years it had grown to almost 6feet x 6 feet. I have not heard of the 'shasta' one you mention, but it too seems to be growing pretty quickly.

JJ - This is an excellent site. If you can't get in using the whole address below just go to www.etera.com

I also have a Snowball bush & it is spectacular, I usuallly trim it around Memorial day. I will try air-layering it, as I've had great luck with this method when propagating my Shefalara. I HATE throwing out the snowball bush cuttings but I've never had any luck rooting them, I NEVER would have thought of trying to air-layerng an outside shrub, this site is truelly packed with informative folks.

Louisa, Where are my manners? Thank you for the tip sheet.
I am trying it now. I love the site you suggested and
had no problem getting there. I have added it to my favorites. I expect to be using it alot! I just can't wait to post my rootings.
Thanks,
Jennifer

Jennifer, you are more than welcome. I just love to share things and if I can help in any way please contact me.

Michele N. Air layering is so easy and many plants can be propagated this way, clematis, vines, magnolia, etc. that is, if you have the patience to wait about 9 months to a year. At least you get a decent size plant and it stays outside :-)
