I had to zoom in to get this shot of a bird in a tree down the street. I have a lot of Grackles, but this one looked to be larger. I thought the tail feathers were a little too short for a Grackle's as well. I know it isn't a good, clear picture, but does anyone have any ideas about what this could be?
Thanks!
Large black bird
Mary: if not a Common Grackle, maybe an American Crow? http://davesgarden.com/guides/birdfiles/go/338/
Maybe Red-winged Blackbird? The pic is a bit small to be certain, but it looks like there's a pale spot on the shoulder.

Thanks, both of you, for your input. It does have the general look of a Red-winged Blackbird, but aren't they pretty small? This bird looked to be quite large, perhaps about the size of a crow. Boy, that tail sure looks right for a Red-winged, though.
Got to get a better camera one day.......!
Very easy to misjudge size, if there's nothing known size nearby!
