I couldn't get pictures, cause I couldn't figure out Cody's camera and I forgot my phone.. I'll go back tomorrow for pictures.. I have to have a serious talk with myself to only go for pictures.. The sale barn was packed full... I'm just about sick with envy.. I really miss having Modern Games.. They were talking to me there.. sweet lil things! I will not buy chickens I will not buy chickens! I can't!! But it was so fun to hear the lil hen talk to me and look me right in the eye..
There was a huge Pumpkin colored pair of Asil for $750. The roo turned his head and talked to me too.. No, I'm not crazy.. he talked back.. You can ask Tommy! LOL I know how friendly they are, and would have LOVED to own that awesome pair!! (The roo was probably over 3' tall)
The show barn was full too.. A ton of Call ducks.. that are sooo cute they are like mini ducks! Serama ducks? OMG if I had my own place....
Pacific Poultry Breeders Show
I hope you can move to land soon. ZZ without chickens wouldn't be right at all!
ZZ's Who is Tommy? Was it by any chance Tommy Truong? Are we being tested my dear friend. I had to laugh ZZ's as I have thought so often of getting rid of the gamehens but I just haven't been able to do it. They hold some kind of power over me that I can't identify...LOL...Hay
Please get some pics of the asils. They are friendly with people but not with other chickens. Yi Yi!!!
Oh good, can't wait to see the pictures!!
I saw these trailers on sale on ebay today that are in Louisiana. It is the trailers they used for housing after Hurricane Katrina I suppose. They are 2006 trailers and are selling for $1500 to $2500 each, 32 foot or something. Not saying I want one, but I sure considered it for a few minutes. Hey, if nothing else they'd make some awesome chicken coops. :)
Moving them would probably cost more than the trailer.
Why am I saying this here? I don't know. I just wanted to share it.
Looking forward to the pictures Z.
My son and his wife and son lived in one of those for a year and a half and they are not worth the price. At least the one he had wasn't. It was very cheaply made and not meant for living in so it was falling apart by the time he got into his house again.
they really are bad. My DD and GS lived in one to for 1 1/2 yrs
Nah, Tommy worked for me when I managed the park.. He is a super handyman and a good friend... also a chicken head! :)
You know Haystack, I had more Moderns, and sold them.. I am so sorry I did.. even though they got an awesome home not far from here. A guy bought them and LOVES them. Anyway, When that lil black skinny hen walked over and started talkin to me, my knees went weak.. LOL She was lookin at my finger and came over to see if I had something and was doing that lil squeeky thing they do.. I still smile.
I hope that pair is still there tomorrow Cajun.. I will for sure get a pic.. that roo was absolutely amazing! I bet in the sun, he'd make you squint!! Big and beautiful.. there were several.. I love them so much! I would really like a pair of them.. of course, not for $750. bucks!
Thank you L_F_J for the thought. :) I am caring for my mother, so I am going nowhere for now.. but I've decided until they force me, I'm not getting rid of all of the chickens.. Even if I have to pack water from the house. :)
Thanks for the heads up on the trailers.
Weather in the 70s here yesterday, now we may get snow. I hope so, we need the moisture.
ZZ's I can't believe your going back today. Oh the torture...I won't be surprised if you don't bring something home...LOL...Hay
Yesterday I went to the lot and held my new rooster. He is blue or splash, I'm uncertain on his color. I just sat there and held him. Don't ask me why, but I felt such peace.
I'm so excited to think I have some nice enough birds to breed this year.
Truly I understand the need for these birds, not that I can explain it.
The right chickens definitely have a soothing, calming effect on us. The chickenless would never understand.
I like to sit in the coop on a chair and just watch the girls. It's soothing.
Ha, CajuninKy! That is a favorite past time here. When I come back in from the coop my hsband asks what took so long. I love to sit and watch the dynamics of the flock. They are very entertaining. Summer is my favorite, sitting in the yard with my husband surrounded by dogs and chickens... Bliss.
I'm sorry everyone, I went back but was too late, they were all packed up and trying to get the heck out of there! LOL I imagine a 2 day show is really tiring.. so, needless to say I didn't get photos...
Truth be known? Yeah, that lil Modern Game trio was gonna have to come home with me.. ;)
Saved !
It will be like reading a book. We will each have our own mental picture of what they looked like.
Would the trailer's be worth buying for the frame's under them? A person could tear down all of the wood, metal and so forth and have the frame to rebuild on.
CS
I don't know what a frame like that goes for.
