It's a Mystery

Biggs, KY(Zone 6a)

Really strange thing has happened at our house tonight. We went to some friend's house because they wanted DH to officiate over renewing their wedding vows. We had a nice time and stayed a couple of hours. When we got home around 10 I came in the front door and went into my bedroom. My BC was asleep by the bed as usual. Then I saw something run past the door to the office. My BC caught sight of it and went to investigate, as did I. It was a brown puppy! Looks like a Brussels Griffon. Likely a cross of a small breed with a rough coat and a boxer. It has a protruding lower jaw and a rough coat. It is a male that looks to be around 3 months old and very skinny. Somebody had to walk up to my house, open the front door and put the puppy inside my house. Nothing was bothered. We had valuables , computers, guitars, a gun, DH's meds, ect. sitting out but nothing had been touched. Just this puppy in the house. I half expect it to be a joke that we will hear about tomorrow. Anyway, the pup is in the bathroom with my BC and they are sleeping. We tried to put him in the utility room but it has no door between it and the kitchen. We blocked it off with a piece of steel grating about 3 1/2 feet tall but he climbs it. If it is not a joke and somebody has put it off on us, we will have to find it a home. Like I don't have enough to do. It is a strange thing. I will not leave my door unlocked again.

OMG!!!! Maybe someone saw it in the road in front of your house and thought it was yours but I can't believe they would open your front door and put it inside

That is a cross between a blessing and a real scare! How weird is that?? Well, I hope it works out for you.. (and him)

Wow! It's hard to believe someone did that, spooky too. Good thing your house dog accepted the puppy, that could have been ugly. I always keep the doors locked even though we have a guard dog in the house. Fraidy cat.

Mine dogs hear everything and let you know. They know when I squirrel is on the front porch or a oppossum is out in the bird feeder way out in the yard. They drive us nuts sometimes. I don't think anyone would open my door with all the noise those two make lol

They're not in our house or even on our property - yet - but someone has dumped a couple of dogs on our road - again. I tried to catch them, but they are afraid. They are likely to be run over or shot by my neighbors so I'll try again tomorrow...

Poor dogs! I don't understand why people dump animals. Why not take them to the pound? Being euthanized isn't the worst way to go. Good luck, porkpal, I hope you can catch them. You have a heart of gold.

So any idea who did this?

Annie people dump dogs for the same reason many dump chickens. More work than I bargined for, or there just to much of a pain to put up with. You'd be amazed at how many people dump children the same way. Our world is a dumping ground by those who have no morale compass. I have alway been ashamed of men who dump their wives for younger women. People become bored, and lazy, so it's just easy to dump. It's frustrating and shameful...

Richmond, TX

We live on a dead end road which comes out of a seedy section of town and suddenly turns rural. It is a favorite dumping ground for unwanted pets as well as household garbage. I pick up both. As a result we always have a lot of dogs. I was not able to catch the latest two and I haven't seen them since.

People dump chickens too? What goes around, comes around. It makes me VERY sad too the way some people don't value and cherish the living.

It's disgusting and a proven fact that a person who will abuse an animals will abuse a child.

Richmond, TX

I am sure some of these same people would happily also dump their children if they thought they could get away with it.

I agree.

I've had custody of a dumped child (DN) for the last 2 1/2 years - also had her many times for weeks at a time her whole life. I can't even begin to explain what it does to them. We love her like our own child, keep her busy with school, gymnastics, art, counseling, tutoring, helping with the animals, teaching her responsibilities and compassion, everything we can think of to build her self esteem. Being dumped and never seeing her mom - EVER - who can't even remember when the childs B'day is or Holidays - it leaves a huge hole in them and they act out in ways that are unhealthy. A child with severe depression is... undescribable. Since there is always GOODNESS - Right now she's working on a list of names for all the new baby chicks and has her calendar marked with their approx arrival date. She was so helpful in choosing the breeds too. As hectic as it can be, we feel so fortunate to have her in our lives.
So, yeah, the Dumpers, what goes around....

Biggs, KY(Zone 6a)

I am so glad she has you.

Those like you Annie and many others who caretake these children are GOD'S ANGEL'S to these beautiful children. Keeping them busy and teaching them how to take responsibility can really be hectic but a small price for redemption...Hay...Thanks Annie for being there and to all who reach out...

God's hands extended.

Alcohol and drugs are a menace to our society and a real threat to children. Heaven help us all, especially the little ones.

The bad stuff is really bad, so we choose to concentrate on the good stuff. There IS a lot of good and we consider her a gift from God.
