Is this a Starling? I used to think those big black birds with the blue or brown heads were Starlings. Now that I'm (slowly) learning to ID, I realized I was wrong. But now I'm thinking... this has to be a Starling, right?!

Yep, European Starling. AKA Common Starling or just plain Starling.

Yep, Starling in winter plumage. They get to be blacker and glossier (less white-spotted) in summer.
