This reminds me of the Lord's faithfulness. When I just have to do it my way (the wrong way), he'll always bring me back to the light!
Where is the light?
Oh, NO!!! What happened, Jamie?
Connie
LOL,To cute.I had a kohleria do that once.
Lynn,That's a pretty amazing picture.
Jan,that was before I realized what side was up on a Strep. leaf LOL.
I 'cut' it free from the pot and placed it where it should have been. What did you do with the Strep babies?
I cut off the top and planted it.The bottom also had babies and I planted it too. They both survived and bloomed.
This was last year before I became a Strep. Killer!!
Jamie,
I will wait till someone else answers this.I know what you are supposed to do,but I have killed hundreds (literally) the last year.
Lynn
Wow!
Lynn,Welcome to the strep killers club,LOL..I also have killed hundreds of them that friends have sent me.I can grow them beautiful from fall till spring, but as soon as it starts warming up forget it.they dead in a few weeks.I can't keep my house cool enough for them. It's heartbreaking.
Jamie,When it gets warmer, they say to put your streps on the bottom shelf of your plant stand. It's cooler down by the floor. But it never worked for me.LOL.
Yep, I'm a member too. Mel Grice said he's been growing them better than he ever has before. He cut egg-crating to just fit just inside the top of the tray, laid a piece of really inexpensive felt...cut long to fit both ends down over the edges of the egg-crating and down into the bottom of the tray. Then water in the tray, plants on the felt...pot them up like wicking with the yarn coming out the bottom of the pot. He thinks it the extra air under the pot that makes them grow really well. I tried something almost like that once...I've tried about everyway actually...and failed! I'm gonna give this a go. I bought two little and gonna try on a small scale..there is a scrap egg crating around here someplace. If it works for me I'd be amazed! ha.

Has anyone tried placing one by an air-condition vent during summer? I think I'll try that with 'spin art' when the weather warms. Dryness could be an issue then. Humidity tray. They are soo pretty. It's a shame for us down south not to get to enjoy them. I wonder if anyone has developed hybrids for heat?
