Is this some type of warbler?

Kingsport, TN(Zone 6b)

I noticed what I thought at first to be one of the many goldfinches that frequent the feeder in winter but after taking a second look I am wondering if this is some kind of warbler. It was at the feeder by itself which is not typical of goldfinches. It also seemed brighter than a goldfinch. Any ideas?

Hi Susan, To me it looks like a Pine Warbler but please wait for more opinions.

Yep..Pine Warbler. Finches all have more stout-thicker bills for cracking seeds.

Having this species at feeders is not unusual though because Pine Warblers do eat more seeds (mostly pine) than any other Warblers (but they still have insect-eating bills).

OldNed, thanks for sharing of the tiny jewels' eating habit. I'm fortunate to have a couple that visit my backyard feeders on a regular basis this winter. Besides enjoying the seeds, they are more often seen at the suet feed as well.

Hi Pell! Thanks so much everyone for the help with the ID. I didn't think we had any warblers around here in the winter except the yellow rumped but it may be close enough to migration time that they are already on the move. This pine warbler is a "first" for me so I'm very excited! I had to do a GI Joe style crawl with my camera up to the living room window to try and get lucky with a shot. It wasn't pretty lol.

Another ditto to Pine Warbler!
