Zone10 posted the following link in the cactus forum, but I thought it might be useful to post it here. It rates/qualifies the known scientific names of plants and is very interesting in helping establish what might be the proper name for a plant.

http://www.theplantlist.org./

For example, the name "Acanthorhipsalis monacantha" is listed as "unresolved" (probably not a correct, proper name) and the more probable correct name for that plant is indicated as "Rhipsalis monacantha" (by checking names on the various lists).

Another interesting tidbit is that the list indicates three similar names in related genus's Lepismium, Rhipsalis, and Acanthorhipsalis that, if I'm reading this correctly, might be two separate species "Lepismium micranthum" and "Rhipsalis micrantha" (Acanthorhipsalis monacanthum" is unresolved). This is of interest to me as I have two different plants labeled "Rhipsalis micrantha" that I have been trying to verify names for. They are very different plants and there is no chance they are the same and just showing different growth patterns, IMO.

This is a great resource for those of you who might want to know the real name of plants in your collection. Thank you Zone10 for bring this to our attention!

Thanks for passing that along, Krowten! I've added it to my "favorites".

Zone10 deserves the credit, just sharing it as I think it important.
