CLOSED: Brazoria NWR Unknown #7 Last One! Egret or Heron

Willis, TX(Zone 8b)

I am not sure of the type on this one.

I see greenish legs which indicates to me maybe a young Little Blue Heron. The bicolored bill supports this.
But, I thought that the bicolored bill could also indicate a Reddish Egret, White Morph. Since there's a tinge of green in the body of the bird, I'm thinking maybe the green is just my white balance being off?? Or maybe a reflection from the water.
And to confuse me further, I think another possibility with the greenish legs and bicolored bill is a young Snowy Egret.

Help... :O)

Yep, young Little Blue Heron. On white Reddish, the bill base is bright pink, not greyish like this; and Snowy would have a slenderer bill.

Resin, Thank you again! I really appreciate all of the tips on how to distinguish them. I wrote the info about the pink bill in my bird book so I will know next time. And I see what you mean about the slender bill in the Snowy.

All of your help is Much Appreciated!

Patti
