I know it's a duck. :O).
I think it's a hen.
The ducks I saw out there that I could ID were millions of Blue-winged Teal and Northern Shovelers. I also saw American Wigeon and N. Pintails. This one doesn't seem to fit any of those drakes I saw.
CLOSED: Brazoria NWR Unknown #5 - Duck
Female Mallard.
Resin
I did hear Mallards out there quacking and making their feeding calls, but I never spotted them. Or so I thought.
Thanks much!
Patti
Guess it's a regional color variable - looked kind of odd at first but Sibley said lot of color variables. Most I have seen tend to be a light tan on face and hardly any white on their feathers and doesn't have reddish brown feathers.
