Hi All --
My Dad used to grow miniature sinningia many, many years ago when he had a greenhouse and would like to get a few again. What do you think is the best place for him to buy some?
Thanks!
Jan
Best source for miniature sinningia
I would recommend Dave's Violets. He has a great selection and many are his own hybrids.

I agree with Lynn. He has a big selection too. I have never mail ordered from him, but I did meet him at the last AVSA convention and bought a bunch of mini sinningias and they have all done well.

yup daves violets is the best for that,he grows all of them his self and has a lot of exciting hybrids
cant go wrong there
I agree-- I have been fortunate enough to visit him-- wonderful guy-- great plants!!
Thanks guys! I knew somebody around here would know. I'll pass it along -- turns out he's wanted to try these again for quite some time.

I go out of town on and off and sometimes I don't know how long I will be away. Also I have way too many plants to water. I like to grow my mini sinningias in glass jars and containers. That way I don't have to worry about watering them and its also handy to take off a cutting and stick it in the soil in the same jar to root.
Also if your dad remembers some he used to grow and they are not on Daves list, email and ask, he sometimes has smaller quantities of sinningias that are not listed.

Tish -- Thanks for the tip, I'll pass it along to him. I hear you about way too many plants to water. Especially up here in winter when the house is as dry as the Sahara. Right now I'm waiting on some mason twine to arrive so I can start wick watering ... We'll have to see how that goes.

In another month or so I will have seed of several named varieties that I would be glad to send to Dad (from one dad to another) at no cost. If it ever warms up I could probably find a tuber or two of minis that I could send......
D-mail me if this interests him.
Vadis -- Very nice of you to offer! I'm sure he'd like to take you up on this -- I'll get in touch (with him) & then drop you a d-mail. Thanks, Jan
