My Apologies

Silsbee, TX(Zone 9a)

Hi Everyone,
I'd like to apologize for disappearing during the bingo. I feel very badly about this, since I was one who had promised a prize. I just logged on to DG a few minutes ago and I've d.mailed Hillbilly_Gran to get that prize on it's way.
I've been sick...and while I was sick we moved. BF was hard at work at his new job (he had NO choice and helped a lot, no rest for him!) and I got to pack up the whole house on my own...in less than 2 weeks. That doesn't sound that bad, except some days I could barely drag myself outta bed. I'm currently recovering from meningitis. It's been an adventure, lol!!
We still aren't unpacked...and I don't care one bit. The essentials are unpacked and put away. It's amazing to me how much stuff I have that I don't really need! A whole garage full, lol! We had a one foot tall "Christmas tree" from the dollar store this year, lol. It's metal, pre-decorated...and still on the mantel.
Again, I'm sorry. I don't know how often I'll be able to check in, but will when I can. Getting the prize to Hillbilly_Gran is important to me and that will be taken care of asap.
Thanks everyone,
Heather

Welcome back Heather.I hope you are back on your feet and feeling much better. It sounds like you have had more than your share of problems lately.

Thanks Lynn. Not quite back on my feet 100%, but headed in that direction ;) For right now I'm happy with that. Things are starting to settle down, and as they do, I think I'll feel better and better. Ordered myself a yoga DVD called "Yoga for the Rest of Us"...it's recommended for the inflexible and elderly, LOL! Doc has been suggesting yoga and this sounds like what I need to get started, hahaha!! It just came in the mail, we'll see how this goes, I've been promised immediate results in more energy and muscles feeling better....so maybe in a couple weeks I'll be wonder woman ;)

(Lynn) Omaha, NE(Zone 5a)

Maybe LOL. I just went through physical therapy and am trying to excercise more...but I think It might take me a while to get to wonder woman!!

Heather - I tried to post this yesterday and it got lost,(my modem is on the fritz I am waiting for a replacement)--but please don't worry about this!! Just feel better!!

Thanks everyone ;) Hillbilly_Gran, you are the bestest!

I don't think I'll be wonder woman for quite a while. Today has consisted of doing one load of laundry, whoo-hoo! It's progress. I can feel myself wanting to do things...rather than just wanting to lay on the couch and drool, lol. The energy level isn't there yet, but it will be. I haven't been knocked down like this in quite some time...and I'm learning to say no, and that's a good thing. Funny how we only learn to say no when we absolutely have to. I've been reading lots about what the docs have diagnosed me with (Fibromyalgia). I don't want Fibro...it's very painful, I've seen a few friends with it, however they did not follow doc's instructions. That's where yoga comes in. Like I said, reading lots on the web and learning lots...trying different things and seeing what works for me. Easy stretching and easy yoga seems to work wonders so far! Other things on top of the Fibro were just wayyyy too much, added to the moving...but in a few months I'm sure we'll laugh about it ;)

In the meantime I'm off to stretch, I really am amazed how much difference it makes. It is a slow road, but I can see improvement already, which is so encouraging.

Heather, my daughter has Fibromyalgia and ITP. She's only 5' and weighs 100 lbs. The best thing that she has found so far is swimming pool therapy. It has done wonders for her.

Thank you Heather for the wonderful prize!!!! ^_^

Glad you got it & like it Hillbilly_Gran!! :)

Melanie, my docs have suggested swimming pool therapy also. However, that type of therapy was very, very limited in the area I just moved from...one facility and (as far as I know) it was overbooked. Where I'm at now I think I'll do much better as far as options for facilities, etc. My first appt. with my new doc here is this Friday. That alone is nerve-wracking. Every time I see a new doc it's starting over from the drawing board...which I understand the need for. I understand each doc wants to do his/her own tests and see the results and rule things out. I have no problem with that at all...it's just that in the meantime they don't often leave me with many options....

Luckily I was seeing a VERY good doc right before I moved! She set me on a path...that I think if I stick with it...will do me the most good and get all of this under control, and lead me to dosing off of a lot of meds. This doc was showing me how to combat Fibro instead of treat the symptoms...formerly I had a doc who had treated the symptoms with a lot of meds (and what's the point of that?). When they tell you that you need to be involved in your own care, boy do they mean it!! The things I've learned over the last month or so are just unbelievable to me. The meds I was on were actually causing me MORE pain! UGH! Crazy to think something you're taking to "kill" pain would cause pain, but in the long run it does. I'm so glad I found a doc who started telling me all of this...because how would I have known?

Anywhoooooo....now it's stretching and Tylenol for what that doesn't take care of. I wish so badly someone would of told me this about 5 yrs ago. But, I know now :)

Also, DBF ended up taking me into Med Express...doc there said I had a bad sinus infection. So, got an antibiotic. 3 days on that and "pampering" the sinuses, lol. Starting to feel a bit better. Still working on the energy level...but it'll get there.

I sound like such a whiny baby...thank you all for listening :) I'll be up and at 'em in no time...it's just that this has drug on for soooo long...I got slammed with 3 (or was it 4?? lol) things in a row. Sometimes I swear we don't appreciate our good health until after a time like this....

Thanks again :)

I have fibro too and I understand completely. I see an alternative health practitioner, the thing that really helped me was an elimination diet. I went down to basic foods (Dr's orders) and then added things in to see how I felt. I rarely eat wheat proucts anymore.

(Lynn) Omaha, NE(Zone 5a)

Susan and Gail, former members, have also suffered with this.I have been diagonosed with it,but in my case I believe it was another condition causing it.
Tommie,I'm so happy you have found some relief and Heather I know things will get better for you.^_^

Wheat products? As in an allergy with other symptoms or did the wheat products only seem to cause the fibro pain and problems? That's interesting. I was never a big believer in how many problems foods can cause us, other than full blown allergies (stop breathing, etc) until I saw my niece and nephew go thru elimination diets. I couldn't believe how their skin even cleared up. I sure felt silly then! I will look into that, thank you for the info.

I also would not be surprised if some other underlying condition was causing this. The good doc I said I was seeing found that my vitamins were really outta whack, and that's sure not going to help anything.

I have no doubt that I'll get to feeling better, and get all of this under control...and find the real culprit if it isn't fibro. I'm not thrilled with the fibro diagnosis. I'd really rather not have that, lol....but I do know it could be a lot worse. I still feel like I have a lot to learn about this, but feel like I've learned a ton over the last month. I have at least learned that I can control this without meds and not be in pain all the time and still have a life...doing more than I thought I could. That is really encouraging to me. I think the more I learn the better I'll do!

Thanks for your encouragement everyone, I really appreciate it. :)

I am going to assume it is an allergy-- or a sensitivity-- whatever. I do know that while I still have big osteo arthritis finger joints they don't hurt anymore. Another thing to think about is an over abundance of yeast in your body-- that too can cause problems. I did a cleanse for that several years ago-- very similar to an elimination diet. Felt great and lost 8 lbs! should've stuck to it then.

Silsbee, TX(Zone 9a)

I'm really going to look into this wheat and yeast. There may be something there, thank you so much for bringing this up. It certainly won't hurt anything.

For now, I have decided that unless I start expending *some* energy I'm never going to get any more. SoooOOOooo, I started cleaning my kitchen after my yoga today. All I want to do is lay on the couch and sleep. But, 1/2 the kitchen is clean, dishes are started on...counters are scrubbed and disinfected, some cupboards doors & appliances are scrubbed. It's a good start, even if it doesn't get completed today. EVERY dish in this house was dirty. I've been off my feet for about a month.

Stopping for a break and to eat now...then back to it...slowly, but surely :)
