Saw this duck/goose/whatever on my walk the other day. It was hanging out with the Muscovies, but a rare duck this is.
It's head and neck are cream, there is a fluffy tan/melon color going from the base of his skull down about 8 inches. When I first spotted him I thought he was a Mallard, but then realized he's WAY too big. He doesn't walk like a Musc either.
Then this am he was across the way from me. Don't have a fancy camera, so this is the best I could do. He's still the Musc pack.
Anyone know who I am?

Thanks for taking a look.
Could find him in my Audubon book either.
Hap
Egyptian Goose. Native to Africa, popular in waterfowl collections and often escapes.

well I'll be. Where in the world could it have come from? should I call someone if I see him again? SPCA, bird group??? Do you think he will be OK here?
Thanks so much for the name, Resin. No wonder he was not in my Eastern US bird book. LOL
Hugs, Hap
It'll be OK, Florida's climate is much the same as what it is adapted to. Where it came from - some wealthy person with a lake who collects unusual ducks as a hobby. There's a lot of them about!
Resin
funny you should mention,,,,,I'm on a lake. LOL
