I made several e-buckets last year--used them for tomatoes. I got a few tomatoes, but nothing like the in-ground plants. So...this year I'm thinking of using the e-buckets for hot peppers. I have two different types of pepper (Aleppo & Fish Pepper) that I would like to keep isolated so I can save seeds. For the tomatoes, I couldn't keep enough water in the reservoir and the 5-gallon seemed small for the varieties I was growing. When I emptied the buckets, there was no loose soil, only tightly packed feeder roots and soil. I would guess that the hot peppers would not develop quite as much root system, so would do better in the buckets.
Any experience with peppers in e-buckets? Comments?

E-buckets and hot peppers?
Hey, David!
I'm planning on refreshing my eBuckets with Tapla's 5:1:1 container mix. From all he's posted on the Soils and Composting forum, the mix of pine bark fine the consistent size of Sugar Corn Pops, peat (MG potting mix can be used), and perlite combines to make a fast-draining, oxygenated medium that also holds water.
It took forever to locate something close to pine bark fines here, but finally have a source. Will try to get a load to mix in and repot the bells. Mine peppers and eggplants have consistently done well in the eBuckets.
