Tonight after hubbie got home from work he tried to turn over a new small coop he has been working on for me and some how pinched his hand at the base of the thumb(web) between the cage and dolly and ripped his hand wide open. It didn't bleed but had a big open hole and you could see the tendons we thought moving. Thankfully JP was still open and took care of him. Hate having to drive all the way to OS to ER. He ripped the muscles loose so he has inner and outer stitches. He got Antiboitics and pain pills and has to go back Friday for a quick check to make sure it is not getting infected. I swear if it weren't for bad luck we would have no luck at all
OMG!!!!
Donna, I'm so sorry to hear about your misfortune. This is one of the things I always worry about with men especially who work so much alone. If he'd had help it probably would not have happened. I know as a male I tend to over do things and thats when I usually end up with pulled or strained muscles or torn flesh. I hope he heals up fast and gets help with heavy lifting...Deep regards to both of you...Hay
Oh DonnaB, I hope hubbie heals up quickly! Lucky you had medical help close by and you were able to get there during open hours. My DH once impaled his knee on a chunk of toilet he was demolishing while we were gutting a room in our old house. Sliced a tendon and everything. The ER Dr said it was the first toilet injury for him so both DH and he were making lots of jokes. The bill was not joke though!

just so strange that there was no bleeding to speak of. He's hurting pretty good today and took a vacation day from work but will most likely go back tomorrow once the pain from trama of the injury and the Dr digging around in it lessens. My poor hubbie is not one to sit around and do nothing. He can't stand it. Once he got 2 of his fingers crushed in a accident at work. It cracked the bones lengthwise down the bones. He was only off 2 weeks. He sat home patiently while it was very painful for a week with a cast holding his 2 fingers together and down his wrist. The 2nd week when he felt better he decide he would go do some fishing. LOL he couldn't reel the rod so he went back to work with Dr approval as long as he didn't do any climbing on the ships!!! He is in supervision so it didn't matter. If he had been on his tools he would have been out 6 weeks.
Oh yuck... (weak knees) eeeew.. I'm so sorry! I hope he heals soon! ugggh! I hope he is okay..
I pierced the webbing between my thumb and first finger with a "tension" bar on the rototiller once... I was trying to get the "pin" in to lengthen it.. I pushed it and it went right through my hand.. no blood, but wow.. the pain was intense the next day! I guess the nerves hurt worse than the injury. I had to go to the ER the next day for pain all the way to my shoulder!
eeewww.. *wiping sweat from forehead** LOL I'd never make it as a nurse.. but I've stitched my horse's flank back together with a wound big enough for my hand and wrist to fit in. Go figure..
For me, its always worse when it is my wound. I'm usually OK with others.....My DH has had several mishaps of the same ilk. Not much blood, just really eeeewwwy! I've learned to look the other way and just get on with either first aid or emergency room!
it doesn't bother me either. He got quesy after he did it. He said I hope I don't have to get stitches I'm such a wuss lol. I don't know how he could even think he wasn't going to get stitches after looking at the wound. He hates the dolly and says he is going to throw it away. Like it is the dollys fault. He got it good from the dolly about 10 yrs ago I don't remember what he was doing but the dolly slipped and shot back at him nailing him in the groin. It has a handle coming off it in the middle. He was black and blue for a month
I got queezy just reading that. Hope he heals up fast.
O H Ohhhh! So terrible Donna! Praying his hand heals quickly! Im with ZZ weak knees and all!!
He saw Dr today and he said it is looking good. He goes back next Thur or Friday to have stitches removed
My DH was cutting wood with my son, and the saw went too far and almost cut his thumb off. My son took him to the emergency room, and they sort of sewed it up, but he had to go back a week later for surgery to reattach his tendon. Lots and lots of really good pain pills.
EEEwwwwwww.....Hicup!
My dh cut his head open today,he was untarping a load of lumber and the long thingy with the buckel on the end of it came down off the trailer and hit him in the head.He has quite a cut in his head, came home and I cut the hair out of and arond it and washed it out a put peroxide on it and a bandage for a couple hours and just took it off and it looks better. He will have a sore head for awhile.
ouch!!!!
Ow! Fortunately heads usually heal well. Thinking positive thoughts.
Big Ouch!! I hope all are healing and feeling better!
Tims counting the days to get his stitches out. He said he is starting to feel them pull
Oh good, that must mean it's healing!
bleagh... pull.. eew..
Hoping your DH heals with out any problems
stitches come out tomorrow. It looks really good
It sounds like he heals fast! Glad to hear it.
he was given oral antibiotics for 7 days too. I hope the inside is as healed as the outside is. Sure would hate for the muscles to come loose again.
