Always wear gloves when handling the seeds as they are covered with fine, irritating hairs.

WOW what a floriferous tree! The ones I have seen have many less flowers! On a sidenote, do not stow contraband seed pods under your bodice for you will be so sorry!

Where was this so great specimen growing?

Hi Kell,

It's in our backyard. There aren't too many of them around Perth, but from the ones I have seen, this is the best. It was a sapling when we moved in 35 years ago. LOL on stowing contraband.

It truly is exceptional! You should pass the seeds around and get them growing all over. You may have a special cultivar.

Kell, I've tried growing plants from the seeds, which are plentiful. However, I'm not sure if the seeds are purely discolor. We have an equally large acerifolius growing beside it and the seedlings all seem to have leaves which look like acerifolius. Now, whether that's common with discolors, I don't know, but I'd hate to pass on the seeds as being discolors when they actually may be a hybrid.

If anyone wants to take a chance with the seeds, let me know.

Oh I grew some out from seed, LOL, seed under my bodice. OUCH! I always have to learn the hard way that crime does not pay. I wonder if I can find the photo so you can compare leaves.

Oh look, I actually posted a photo of one. http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/showimage/268995/

Kell, looking at your photo of a discolor seedling, the leaves have fuzzy hairs. My seedlings didn't have them and the trees that have grown from them look like acerifolius.

It would be so cool to grow some out and see what kind of bloom you get. Maybe a red one?

I wonder if you could bag a few buds then open to pollinate them yourself then rebag to keep them pure. I do not know if they are self pollinating.

With pictures like yours, you could sell the seeds on eBay I would think easily. Get rich! LOL

Rich beyond my wildest imaginings. LOL.

Kell, I'll have a look, but I think all the flowers have opened. If there are no buds, I'll keep it in mind for when it next starts to come into flower.

Oh do! Just think you could populate the world with so much PINK!
