Here is the first one. It is a sparrow but not sure which one. I thought it might be a Black-capped chickadee at first.
Need some ID's on a couple birds
You were right. your first is a Chickadee and your second is a tufted titmouse. Congrats.
you can also find IDs on the ID forum.

Hi Buttoneer, Nice pics of your birds!
A good bird guide to consider getting would be- Sibley Field Guide to Birds- Eastern North America.
Looking forward to seeing more of your photos!
Yep, Black-capped Chickadee and Tufted Titmouse.
Checked up, where you are in PA is in Black-capped Chickadee territory, but you don't have to go far south (to about York, PA) to change to getting Carolina Chickadees instead.

Thank you all so much for your help & also the birdid forum. I didn't realize they had an id column for birds but I have used the plantid column from time-to-time. I'll check on Amazon.com for a birding book because their prices are great & you can buy used books that are in mint condition for a fraction of what you would pay at other bookstores. Merry Christmas to everybody & will post other pix here.
Nice ones buttoneer!

Hi Buttoneer,
I'm from near Selinsgrove, PA. In addition to Sibley and the Peterson Field Guides, I have a little paperback, 2nd edition entitled "Birds of Pennsylvania" by Stan Tekiela. It is really helpful in identifying birds in this area, and I can take it with me.
Hi Granny, thanks for the info. I just ordered the Audubon Eastern Birds book from ebay for a phenomenal price but I will look that one up you mentioned & thank you so much for the suggestion, happy new year, PA neighbor, so nice to meet you.
Howdy neighbor. Happy New Year to you and you are going to love the Bird Forum. Look forward to seeing more of your posts.
The Audubon book is great. Ebay is a wonderful place to find birding books at a fantastic savings.
I have found that the best place to find books of all conditions (mostly used) is abebooks.
Here is the link: http://www.abebooks.com/
Also for those living in Pennsylvania you may be interested in the 2nd Pennsylvania Breeding Bird Atlas which is to be available in 2011. It is primarily for serious birders. You can probably buy the first edition for a considerably reduced
price but I might wait for the new one. Maryland has just released their 2nd Atlas and it is quite impressive. I was fortunate to have 14 of my photos accepted for inclusion in the book. It is a hardback with over 500 pages of photos and detailed information on birds that breed within the state. Most states have a Breeding Bird Atlas.

Thanks for the information Linth. Congratulations, on your photos being included in the Maryland Atlas. Not surprised though. Your pictures are fantastic.
I checked this book (Birds of Pa by )Stan Tekiela at Abesbooks and the price was identical to the prices of used books at Amazon. Great suggestion, I will bookmark their website.
