Times are ridiculously tight right now, but since market gardening and our farm's sustainability contribute to our overall financial and physical health, I decided that as for the last few years, $20 was worth being able to converse with the DG people, particularly those in this forum! So here's to another year with DG, a New Year about to begin, and a fresh start on a wildly successful garden and livestock harvest this year!

Back for Another Year
I'm so glad you decided to stay with us. I'm starting out the New Year with six new Serama babies. Will have pic's later today...Happy New Year to you...
Happy New Year Hay! I'm sticking with the girls I've got for now. My coop is at max capacity, as far as I'm concerned, but we are doing the steer (4) and pot bellies (2) new this year. We got them at Thanksgiving time. Today was fun since it was pouring rain and I had barn chores. But I guess that's just part of the life. I'm also thinking of returning to school this year, and possibly going into an ag program for agronomy or ag business. Maybe both. Should be interesting!
Good for you, the way things are today you can't be over educated. I feel so fortunate not to be a part of the working class anymore. I don't know if my education at this point would even help me anymore. The job market just isn't there, even for those with excellent educations...Going to school was something I always enjoyed. I love studying and learning new things...Have a great day...Hay
Welcome to another year Mev.. I am so excited to have 2010 behind me! I hope it's a good year for all of us.
I so agree with you Haystack.. Unfortunately, I'm still in the job market, and feel like I've fallen through the cracks and can't get back up. The job market is so incredibly competitive, even with experience, age is now a factor.. physical ability is a factor too.. so my scope of employment is narrowed in a non existent market!!
I'd love to go to school.. but survival is first priority..
Welcome to another year of DG Mev. Hope 2011 is better for all of us
ZZ I will keep you in my prayers. My last job before my back gave totally out was at a Huge Amusement center having to deal with all the thugs and dope head. Wasn't much else I could do at that point. Was fairly easy sitting in my Big Booth making change and selling microwaved pizza, hot dogs, and Beer out of a coke machine, for the clean up I pd a good kid 10.00 that used to come in before we closed at night when he got off work, to clean up during the week. On weekends when we were packed my Boss pd for him to clean up plus I had 2 Bouncers to help control the people
Yes, Mev! Looking forward to hearing from you (and all the rest of you) this coming year! This is such a useful forum for me. I learn something new almost everyday!
You are lucky to have continuing education available in your area! I'd love to go back to school, but would really have to drive to get there. I don't think one can do Chemistry online. Maybe I'll look into something else online. Once I retire I think I may need to find another job....
Chemistry on line!
LOL! I mean the science, not the matchmaking =D!
So did I; I was just trying to picture the lab situation.
Me too!
dang I was hope it was the matchmaking, I was going to put in my order...Glad you are here another year mevnmart
LOL @ putting in your order.
Not to completely hyjack to thread, but my high school chemistry (1) lab partner actually set fire to the lab bench (yes, really). I suppose a virtual lab would circumvent have a doodlehead for a lab partner!
Big faux pas!
I think I must have had your same lab partner in college!
I am glad to see people sticking with Daves Garden. Especially since so many have left lately. This is a great place, so friendly and helpful.
I'm glad I didn't lose contact with people whether it's here are at Cubits.
All of the hubbub last year gave me pause, but being a newer farmer, I just can't do without the expertise I've found here (I've been a paying member for a few years, but only this year as a market gardener with livestock). You all and members of the other boards have been such an invaluable resource, I can't imagine not having you folks to go to when I have a question. Even when I've had emergencies with my hens, the response time has been staggeringly fast, and you've all helped me so much. So there it is. I'm addicted to you all, and since DG is the dealer, I'll keep doing business here. :)
