Narcissus, white, fragrant, growing in Zone 9

Kerrville, TX(Zone 8a)

Please id this beautiful, fragrant narcissus bulb. There are numerous ones that look so much alike. It was planted in my grandmother's yard many, many years ago. I believe that there is more than one *fragrant*, *white* narcissus bulb? Is that correct? This is one plant blooming now here in Zone 9. I am interested in finding more narcissus that will grow in this zone. Does this bulb have more relatives that will grow here, fragrant or not, white or yellow? I think the key to growing these is planting them in the correct zone. There are numerous daffodils that I have planted in Zone 9 with no results. Do realize they have to be chilled -- at least some of them. I love these little guys. Thanks so much.

Each stem has about 9 to 10 tiny flowerheads and resembles none I have seen.

Not possible to id if from your photo, but I suggest this article about Southern Narcissus as a great start to your search. You can then go to Daffseek to type in any name or part of a name he mentions to do a search and then see a photo with a great description of almost any Narcissus that he mentions. There are quite a few with significant scent. Good Luck. And post your thoughts about what it is. They also list historic ones which yours no doubt is from that list. Patti

bbrookrd,
Thank you very much.

They remind me of Paperwhites. I've got about 4 different varieties this fall and they all came up and bloomed. Look for paperwhite narcissus. The ones called Chinese Sacred Lanterns have the best scent.
