Behavior issue

North Augusta, ON

DH brought home a Beagle today. She's maybe 6 years old. She was a kennel dog. She gets along great with our 3 girls...except...when she's sleeping she has territorial(?) issues. DH says that whenever she tried to sleep in the kennels she was attacked by the other hounds, eventually she had to have a kennel to herself.

Our girls are all used to sleeping cuddled in a dog pile so naturally they want to go over and sleep beside her. She doesn't bite but she growls and snarls and snaps at them.

Is there any way to help her adjust? Can she adjust? Will she eventually get over it once she realizes that our girls aren't going to attack her like the other dogs she's known has?

Suggestions?

edited to add that she's a small Beagle. She's the same size as my 8 month old Westie.
