Grey Bird ID?

Southern NJ, United States(Zone 7a)

Can't figure out what this bird is on my feeder. It's a dark grey with slightly lighter chest and a lighter patch at the throat.

Here's another view:

That is a female Brown-headed Cowbird.

We thought that was the most likely, but of course it didn't look like the photos or drawings in the field guides! Thanks!

Ditto to female Brown-headed Cowbird. The other birds in the pics are a Common Redpoll (pic #1) and a female House Finch (pic #2).

Resin, I've never seen a Common Redpoll at our feeders; I think that might also be a House Finch. We used to have Purple Finches but the House Finches seem to have taken over that niche. We also have lots of Goldfinches, Nuthatches, Titmice, various Sparrows, Carolina Wrens and all the other usual suspects. Past that feeder and down the bank is a small tidal river where we have Bald Eagles and lots of shorebirds and an Osprey nest.

Still looks good for a Redpoll! Compare with the other pic, the House Finch is drab, and only a little smaller than the Cowbird, whereas the Redpoll is a lot smaller, and more 'frosted' in appearance with a much stronger white wingbar. Well worth keeping an eye out in case it reappears.

I will keep my eyes open, Resin. I do see your point, but I have never actually seen a Redpoll, at least not knowingly. I'll ask some friends who write birding books and see what they think. They can usually call out a bird that I'd never even notice - such as a lone rare White-crowned Sparrow among the White-throats and the Pine Siskin among the Goldfinches.
