It's already started. I'm buying seeds for plants that I will have no room for next year.
Just bought from Edon Organics:
Black-eyed Susan vine - actually I will have room for this. I always try to have at least one.
Canary Bird Vine - my justification is that it stays small, I could have it in a hanging pot. (hush!)
Crockneck squash - Theoretically, i will actually get these ones to the edible stage before the bugs get to them.
African iris - like the bird vine, they're small!
Lord, I dread what my self-control is going to be like come late January!

Getting weak fast!!!!
Lol .. good thing you don't know about JL Hudson!
Tis the season to indulge, Barb. I planted some african irises a few years ago, but they have yet to bloom. They're definitely cold hardy in my zone 8a. Wishing you and yours a great holiday!
Ok...looking up JL Hudson....
Arrrggghhhh ... am I gonna have to hide now? Actually I'm addicted to that site. It's a sad, sad thing. We're on a first name basis I think.
X - I looked through some of the seeds and stayed strong. but....this book looks pretty cool :
HOW PLANTS GET THEIR NAMES
L. H. Bailey, 1933. Paperback, 181pp, 10 oz. $8.95
A beautifully written book by one of the foremost horticulturalists of this century, detailing the why and how of botanical nomenclature. Discusses how plants get their names and what these names mean. Includes a pronunciation guide for botanical names, and an extensive list of definitions of specific names. Helpful for anyone who has felt intimidated by botanical names, and should be required reading for pedants who correct others' pronunciation.
I love blackeyed Susie vines you did good on those. I am gonna look up the place and maybe get some of them also.

Just bought a really cool pot on clearance from work. Justification - a birthday gift to myself.
I also bought amaryllis bulbs from work.. Justification - no ones was buying them and I can't stand to see them just lay there!

Knew it would happen sooner or later...bought a new orchid. (sigh...)
It's fabulous, it was very reasonably priced, it's healthy and has three spikes. (sigh....)
Here's what it is....http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/171090/

If I don't hurry up and get some new bark I am gonna lose some orchids. I gotta get to New Bern Lowe's for that I hope tomorrow.

I know the owner of these orchids. He lives in Wilmington and sells at the downtown Farmers Market and two local nursery's. It's great since I know the medium is always good and if the plants don't do well, it's my fault.
