To All of You

just outside of atla, GA(Zone 8a)

I have not been a member of Daves Garden very long.

I am touched by the warm welcome I have received on this forum. Have appreciated the answers I have received for my 'new to bird watching' status.

Please know that even though I do not have a camera, I am a constant lurker. All of your pictures have actually answered many questions for me. They are all so beautiful.

I wish love, peace and all the wonderful things life has to offer to each and every one of you.

Taxicat, ditto to what you said. The folks here a DG are super. In the order of things, I'm not an "old-timer" on DG. It is the one forum that I am constantly visiting. You'll probably find this forum a lot more fun, if you get a camera - I sure do. Oh, and it doesn't have to be a "high dollar" one, either.

When I first came across DG, I didn't have a camera, either, and I never "spoke", just lurked and drooled. So, I got me a little Nikon 5100 point and shoot camera and attached it to my spotting scope - and starting snapping bird pix. Well, to lure in more birds, I hung out A LOT of feeders. I read on DG about what to feed them. The birds starting coming and I was hooked.. Unfortunately, that rig was too cumbersome for me (I'm in a wheelchair a lot of the time) so next, I got me a Panasonic FZ28 (it is a great camera with 18x zoom).

I read on DG about this lens and that lens and decided that I wanted to be able to exchange lenses, so I sold the FZ28 and bought me a Canon 40D (10.1 mega pixels). Over time, I've owned a Canon 70-300 lens and Sigma 150-500 lens (both have been replaced). Now, I have a Canon 400L f5.6 prime lens and a 70--200L f2.8 IS lens. I've ordered a Canon 1.4x and a 2x Teleconverters for the 70-200 and will maybe sell the 400 prime, not sure yet. The teleconverters multiply the lens' focal length by 1.4x or 2x. With the 2x on, the 70-200 lens becomes a 140-400 and looses two f/stops so, it will be close to the 400 prime, but a lot more versatile.

Recently, I was really impressed with some pix Burd-Fotos made with his a Canon T1i (15.1 mega pixels and it does movies, too). I bought a T1i body off eBay, it is so new to me that I haven't done anything more than look at it. Got it a coupla' days ago. I can use my 40D lenses on the T1i.

Oops, didn't mean to go on so.

Hey Taxicat, we love having you here rather you post pics or not!

I didn't have a digital camera when I first found all the great bird pics here along with Resin & pelle. There wasn't even a Birdwatching Forum yet!

Have a wonderful & peaceful holiday!

Hey Taxicat. you don't need a camera to enjoy bird watching. Helps though to have a picture when identifying. They really are such a joy to watch, keeps me company as I work from home. As does this forum.
