I am interested in heirloom texas vegetable gardens. I dimly remember that someone at Texas A&M is an expert on this subject and perhaps has written a book on it. Can anyone on this forum jog my memory? Thanks.

Heirloom Texas Gardens
Do you have any knowledge of availability for purchase of heirloom plants from these gardens? I am specifically looking for a source of which might grow in the Plano, TX area without an assured winter chill???
You should check with North Haven Garden, it is near Plano www.nhg.com
taylorw, I've not been in Texas long enough to even say I know about what current hybrids are good for Texas. Let alone heirloom Texas veggies. But you might check with Willhite's in Poolville: http://www.willhiteseed.com/index.php
They've been in the seed business for 85 years and, if you call them, they might be able to tell you what they were selling years ago. Do you think that would help?
Last year, we grew all heirlooms in our garden with wonderful success. (Well, except for the maters! LOL) The year before our heirloom maters did great. Most heirlooms will grow here, you just have to be sure to plant them at the right time.
