Here's the first time I fooled around with RAW.
For comparison, this picture is captured by my 40D as a jpeg, not RAW.
RAW - I think I did it. Take a look, tell me what you think
The RAW is brighter (or lighter).
Can you put them side by side?
The RAW is brighter (or lighter).
That's probably from the "play[ing] around with the sliders". I'd very much doubt that it is possible to see any differences online here, as the Dave's Garden software will auto-convert the RAW into jpg anyway. The only way to tell would be to compare the originals on Hack's screen at their highest resolution. The higher quality of RAW will make a difference for professional publishing, but not for normal web display.

I'll try to make a composite of all three.

I see a difference in your composite Hack. Ive shot a few images in raw of Elvis last year...I figure RAW would be good for future wall shots...this spring I will be going to all RAW for sure.
I have the 40D set to do a jpeg file and a RAW file whenever I click the shutter. When I transfer the pix to the computer the jpeg shows me what I'm looking at - I delete the ones I don't like. The RAW file doesn't present itself as an image.

I use the software that came with my T1i kit to edit any RAW shots.
Burd, have you ever shoot in RAW?

Yup!
Oops didn't see you did Elvis in RAW.

Also RAW files are 18-20mb vs 5mb on jpeg.
Yep, they are big files. Thankfully, I don't take a ton of pix at any one time.
