Here in Washington, DC, this year and last, I put several (6-7) cuttings in each of two different pots.
Last year, only one or two cuttings survived my technique (and an attack of white flies) to "take" in each pot --happily, those three all grew well once replanted outside.
This year, I did the same thing, but was more careful in terms of keeping the pots' "feet" warm, the soil moist and the bugs at bay. ALL cuttings in both pots are pushing out leaves and/or new branches. I'm happy about the prospect of having 12-14 new plants for next Spring, needless to say.
But, the cloud I see behind my silver lining is this: with so many cuttings growing (and presumably pushing out roots) in each pot, holding only about a gallon of soil, should I worry that they'll be inseparable by Spring? Should I separate them all now into different pots to avoid this, or will I be able to get them apart (e.g., by carving up the mass rootball) and plant them separately in April?
Nice problem to have, just want to make sure I get some expert advice.
Many thanks in advance!

J...well..I don't know about expert... but both ways wlll work.. just in the spring when you do the surgery... they will be working to repair the root damage then.. before they can take off... I'd seperate them now.. they will grow much better till the spring... more light for the leaves and room for the root development... and then as soon as you get them outside.. they will be all set to go for it...
GH, I've read your many posts with great interest and appreciate the advice, thanks.
