This butterfly is usually only a casual visitor that perches on foliage and on the ground, with wings open, to warm up in the mornings and occasionally at other times just to rest. Butterflies are cold-blooded so they need a jump-start on cool mornings. They do not, usually, visit flowers for nectaring. They come readily to an offering of fruit, however...the fruit, in the rotting (fermentation) process generates an irresistible drink that the insects actually can become intoxicated on. Highly visited by tons of other insects also.
