Dana,
You can take the larger leaves off if you wish. I had left a few in the greehouse all summer the roots had grown into the soil under the pavers. To move them around and re-arrange the plants, I had to rip or cut the errant roots. I really didn't do anything to most tops because I had to get everything thing in regardless and quickly. I watered them well and misted for a few days and all recovered. Some lost leaves which I picked up, but they lost nothing else. These guys are pretty resilient.
Thanks for the reply same here It has been so dry here I cut back on watering then the cold same quick I didn't have time to do it the way I would have liked. The ground was dry so you dig and most of the dirt fell away from the roots. I quickly potted and watered I am watering almost every day as propane heat drys them out fast. I give enough to moisten the soil not wet,wet The nice new green green growth really wilts bad hate to loose any of it. I cut down pink velvet last night put it up in laundry room in a bucket we had ice here a few others I did not get too are gonners and I have a few wrapped double frost cloth that were getting ready to flower are proably toast too hate this time of the year Becky your bananas are ready! lol
Betty thanks again there back looking good lost some of the big leaves but thats ok Seminole Moon is blooming now did earlier wasn't that impressed with it but in the green house its a real peachy color looks pretty good was going to dump it but its worth the effort
