Do you nkow what species the hairy columnar cactus to the right is?

Gee, I do not know. Maybe Cephalocereus senilis? It has red spines. Let me ask Xeno if he can tell from this photo.

Cephalocereus senilis has thinner stems.

Ah,that is either now gone or seriously pruned back.
I would bet on E.melonstele. I think I had that and it rotted in a wet winter. Problem was,my Ash tree has created shade where I once planted sun lovers. Huge tree,hard for me to prune now.
E.melonstele has a thinning hair problem compared to the other types. It's also more green (That really can be seen in rains) under those spines. I've seen it in Hayward in full sun looking good and chunky.
