I plan to get one of these this spring.
VV, isn't the arboretum scantily planted? Why all the grass?

killda, you need to get out more.

Frederick Law Olmsted, Sr. is probably rolling over in his grave about now. Scantily planted, indeed!

I prefer to think of the Arnold Arboretum as a work of art. And - as with all such well thought out masterpieces - there is context within which the object of attention is presented. Sometimes even pedestrian materials such as grass serve a purpose.

There is much more to the Arnold than what you see in some of my amateur photos. Even some woody plants touching each other (ewww!!!).

Lol! I still think it's too much grass. I think Freddy was a bit limited in his imagination and creativity. :-p

Well, one could do worse than this...

That is indeed beautiful but all I can think is how much better it would look with some groundcovers and maybe some rhodies or azaleas.
