Yellow Cobra Lily
Chasmanthe floribunda var. duckittii

While trying to divide bulbs where tree roots entwined, some broke. Found later with 4 shoots coming off a 1/2 bulb left on ground.

I am trying to place these Yellow Cobra Lily. George. I just can't quite do it. Do they like wet grounds?

I don't think so. I have this South African native growing under birch trees (hence the damage to this one trying to dig out from the roots) and out in the full sun. They don't seem particularly picky, but I lean more toward dry. Definitely with good drainage in our clay soil. They have become one of my favorites. Nice cheerful early bloom.

This definitely demonstrates how much plants want to live, regardless what we do to them!

Last year I had an upside down bulb in a 1 gallon black plastic pot with no dirt. The pot was hidden under much foliage of another pot. When I was spring cleaning I found it and the leaves from the bulb had grown out thru the drainage holes in the bottom. I could not even get it out since the leaves were so big.
