New Sherriff in town
gary sent me that yesterday. amazing isn't it. bushmaster says they willbe coming out with alot of these soon.
It's almost scarey. I wonder if eating a pepper that's too hot can actually kill you?
Evidently it can kill somebody, if the government is researching it as a weapon!
LOL! I used to be able to really take the heat in the hot pepper dept. For some reason, after I had the kids I couldn't =(! Still love to grow the milder towards medium hot peppers. Won't grow this one but am happy to read about it. Thanks for posting the link!
You know how your hands swell from handling hot peppers? I wonder if your airway could swell after eating one?
As an undergrad I worked at a municipal greenhouse. Each year the director brough in one of those little Christmas pepper plants loaded with tiny red peppers. It was my task to remove the peppers and extract the seed which were then planted in hundreds of peat pots as gifts for various city personnel and friends. I was shelling the peppers one afternoon in preparation for planting when I had a sudden urge to go to the restroom. In my haste I didn't think to wash my hands. The resulting pain to a certain private area of the body was unbleavable.
Although I still love hot peppers to this day, I follow Sam's rule with the hottest ones placing only one or two whole ones in a jar of picante will provide enough additional heat to the Jalapenos to satisfy most of you hot tongers.
OUCH!!!
LOL! Sounds like something I'd do too! Oooooooo, owie!
I had a friend who had shingles and she was unlucky and had it erupt on her face. She said they only thing that she found that helped ease the pain was an ointment that the active ingredient was capsaicin. I said "Capsaicin!!! Doesn't it burn!?!?" She said a little at first but nothing compared to the shingles, then after a few minutes it felt a lot better. I guess it has been used to treat headaches, too - I haven't tried it but maybe I should!!
I use cayenne pepper as a pain killer. A tablespoon in a bowl of chili or tomato soup helps with some of my aches and pains which are part of the aging process. And. I believe it enhances the flavor of thse foods, but I don't get much agreement on that one from other family memebers. .
Capsaicin is like vinegar and baking soda -- lotsa different uses.
Once I cut up some jalepeno's for hubby's sandwich, sent him on his way to work then went in the bathroom to put in my contacts. Ouch is right. OMG, thought I would go blind. Don't do that one folks!
I know that when I have a migraine (I get them rarely, but when I do they are BAD) I will sometimes forgo the pills I'm supposed to take and eat jalepenos or some nice hot salsa from the local taco shack. They make their salsa verde right there and it is nice and hot! The migraine will not go away completely but it often does seem to melow out to something I can deal with and keep working. Strange that the jalepenos don't make me sick. Any other food would have me pukie and headachie. Very weird!
That's really interesting. Whoddathunkit?
I think it makes your eyes, mouth, or whatever part of your body you inadvertently touched, hurt so bad you forget you have the other aches and pains! LOL
I would die. My ulcer would make sure of it.
LOL! I'll probably get ulcers from the hot pepers!
whenever i cut up hot peppers i actually sneeze three times in a row. no more no less. last year i grew the 7 pot peppers and when i went to cut them up i actually sneezed 7 times in a row. my wifes refuses to say "bless you" when i sneeze because of the peppers. LOL
Herbie- You are too funny, oh by BTW "bless you". I can't believe you count your sneezes.
doesn't everyone?? and thanks
cayenne pepper is the spice of life...I carry a small jar with me when I eat out which is seldom, mostly when I travel. The only Mexican resturant I have found that even has a remotely hot sauce is Chapoletes (think I spelled that right), and we don't have one within 500 miles, so its a real treat. I have also heard that cayenne pepper is part of the American Indian's recipe for preventing cancer.
