Daylilies for a Newbie?

Houma, LA(Zone 9a)

Hi! I just joined DG, and am in love with it! I have always grown perennials, but have never tried my hand at day lilies. I had no clue there were so many varieties. If anyone has any extra plants, I would dearly love to trade (although I only have seeds to offer) or send you sase (does that work for plants?) Thank you all so much, and I look forward to really getting involved and becoming a productive member.

You might ask on the lily forum:

I think she's looking for Hemerocallis and not Lillium. ;)

You can't really do SASE for plants but many people will send them if you pay the postage. The post office provides boxes for free.

Wish I could help you out. I had over 500 different ones until October and sold nearly all of them.

If you have perennials to trade, people will often trade daylilies for them. You might also try to get daylily seeds. They are not that difficult to grow and you never know what you are going to get.

Hey, badseed, how are you?

Hi Marti,

I'm doing alright. Thanks for asking! How are you?

Somerset, KY(Zone 6b)

I'm doing pretty good. I went deer hunting and shot my first ever deer, matter of fact, I got 2 of them.
The roses I got from Dovey in Ohio are doing great and I've had blooms on most of them. A couple sulked about being transplanted in July, but are now growing nicely. I am in the process of planning on replacing the trailer we live in so have to move all my plants to the back of the property, but am now buying 16 new roses. See list.

Excellent new Marti! I'm glad to hear dovey's roses are doing so well. Are you going to have room for anything else? LOL

If nothing else, the thread is staying at the top. Maybe your daylily angel will see it. :)

Okay, back to deepseas. They need some kind people willing to part with daylilies in the spring. Any offers??

Where are you getting your roses? I love your choices and heard that I need to plant now in my zone, 8b.
