Please excuse me, I know that this subject probably has been discussed before. I am a 'late bloomer' on learning this online stuff.
I do not have room in my home for bird seed storage. My garage is a carport.
Currently I am using one of those huge plastic tubs with the lift off lid.....secured by bungie cords.
The squirrels have not touched the cords but they sure seem to enjoy chewing the plastic! I give them another couple of days and they will be enjoying my seed.
Please, share your experiences and solutions.
thanks,

Bird Food Storage
Hi taxi, My squirrels actually chewed through part of our shed to get inside and eat the bird food. My husband put up metal parts so they couldn't do that again.
I have heard some say the old fashion metal trash cans with a tight fitting lid are best. You still might need the bungie cords. :-)
A padlockable metal storage unit. Squirrels aren't the only thieves around, there's human ones too. And raccoons, and in some areas, bears.
Resin
I use the old fashion metal cans, They work a treat
I am so sorry that I did not thank you for your suggestions.
I went with metal. I found some garbage cans that were 1/2 size, have not seen them in years!
Yep, covers and bungie cords....LOL

Glad to hear that. Let us know how it works out.
