basement

Cayuga, IN

I recieved many wonderful brug cuttings, they are all in a south window, rooting like crazy and getting quite a few leaves. To avoid getting white flys, and aphids, should I put them all in the basement 40-50 degrees, I dont have any plant light, just a lightbulb, a north window and 1 east window in the basement. we do run the dehumidifier on auto. LOL, I'm just so thrilled to see my babies growing big and strong, SO I dont know what to do, basement or keep the upstairs, or will they still get the nasy criters downstairs. Thanks I have about 60 in clear plastic cups /w drain holes...Whaat do you all recomend? Thanks Rose

New cutting do not like rooting and then going dormant, it is best to keep them growing. I would keep them warm with a lot of light, so upstairs in front of a window.

I agree with Ken. Newly rooted cuttings just don't have the food reserves to make it through winter in a cool(cold) dim environment. If the new growth on your cuttings start to look leggy with long distances between leaf nodes, they are not getting enough light and will need more sunlight. The cheapest way to supplement light is to use a 2-light florescent light fixture. Use one each of a warm and a cool light bulb. This gives you a wider light spectrum than two of either.

I'm glad I caught this post because I just got some cuttings myself and wondered if I should put them in the third bedroom. Right now they are in my Dad's window getting South facing sun.
