Although, the beauty usually is known for her official name Night blooming cereus- Queen Of The Night. But due to the way she adapted to the changing of the weather in my zone. She finally bloomed this morning. This is 1st of 3 buds on this recurrent wave of blooms for the year.
Queen Of The Morning ...
Breathtaking bloom.
Thanks to both for your compliments. OM, I acquired the plant at a mature stage 3 years ago and as I recalled. In the past they all bloomed at night hours, many a time, I have missed their blooms -- to only see their spent flowers the following mornings.
This is its 3rd wave of blooms this year, and as I stated above, due to changes in the growing condition, they're showing some aberant to their usual behavior. :-)
georgous bloom. That is the first one I have ever seen with sunlight. I bet that helped in taking photos, usually the photos are kind of blurred and bad because they are taken in the dark. what a rare exsperience!
lismil, precisely it's my 1st experience with this beauty blooming during the day light hours. There are 2 more swollen buds that are yet opening up. I'm waiting, waiting. More pix to share when they do. Although, we're are listed as both being in the same zone. Have you had your first frost? The microclimate I'm in has aided in prolonging our frost date this year. I'm pleased.
Im not really sure if it has frosted yet or not. I have taken all my plants inside, because the weather has been so strange, and there were a couple nights where i wasnt sure if it would get too cool or not. I have moved twice in the last year, and I think it has affected most my plants. No buds so far. The only thing that has bloomed this year is my christmas cactus, which has buds just starting to open now. it is in the 70s today though......Im just wondering when the cold will strike. It will be interesting to see if your other buds open at night or not.
Yes, our weather in the Southern part of the States is very tempermental--and unpredictable. I'll keep you posted if the flowers will open, and when. That is, if I don't miss out on the timing. Happy gardening, and Thanksgiving.
Kim
