To my "Garden" & "Green" friends, No more Gardens???
That sounds like a very crazy proposition, are they serious?
Another thread on this subject says it's just somebody trying a scare tactic.
The bill actually is for food safety in the huge processing plants.
But you can always go to the big super market & buy the stuff grown & produced in other countries that have now rules.
I checked on snopes for bill 510 and they had nothing. I didn't look at the bill itself but the letter to your senator simply points out the flaws in the bill and says it shouldn't pass until those are addressed. Everything is worth a second look and closer inspection now days.

Sounds like more political scare BS from the evil paranoid right creating.
I take the sounds like back.
It IS BS from the paranoid right that hides from their own shadows.
I know of it as HR 875...

I'm not sure how far reaching the provisions of the bill would be as to affect us home gardeners. I work in the meat industry and can tell you we are heavily regulated by the USDA, not the FDA. This bill deals with splitting the FDA into two parts - one to deal with "food safety" and one to deal with the drug regulation et al... I would be interested in what others find in researching this bill. It's a bit confusing to me still at this point and I think a lot of the hype is scare tactics, but I also feel it warrants further research by the people...

A cursory search on Google for this bill turns up mostly some pretty strongly worded articles, all strongly opposing it. Either this bill is a spectacularly bad idea, or some people are looking for something to freak out about. The nature of these articles leads me to believe the latter. Still, it's worth taking a look at. If someone with knowledge in legal jargon can understand the bill, I'd be very interested in an objective explanation.
Sounds like the death panel nuts have added gardening to their bag of crazy.
I think I am going to bow out of this thread now. I don't like to get into political or religous debates. Bottom line, I hope the bill doesn't pass if it will in any way bring hardship on the home gardener.
I appreciate you sharing the link(s) and we should each draw our on conclusion and inspect the actual bill to help insure it is the right thing to do for the country.
How can you tell what the truth actually is? Nearly impossible these days. If I had to bet I would say this stuff was put out to scare people about as someone said BS and this bill is probably designed to regulate food safety and or the pharmacy industry both of which sound good to me.

Left wing crazy too htop, its all the same these days.

C ... that is sooo true. Who can you believe?
Seems like no one to me...just a lot of nonsense from both sides to keep all the power and money.

Almost all the BS about this BS comes from Right Wing Blogs and Right Wing imitation news beating the drums to stir up the gulliable. Google shows that.
LOL google huh. Well I nearly agree with you but recognize some BS comes from both ends.
When I am locked in the internment camp, awaiting the for the word from the death panels to decide my fate, while not lazing in the bottom bunk, I understand I will be allowed to grow veggies for the guards mess while I promise to disobey all the shia laws at my old camp in Lawton, OK. Oh the logic of it all.
I just want to winter sow some wild flowers...
Wildflowers is something I have many and plenty of growing in the wild. I could still collect a lot of seeds. The problem would be for the sower is that I don't know the names of most of them. Of course most of the wildflowers have already spread their seed. I am red/green color vision impaired so my color descriptions of the flowers can't be trusted. The wildflowers bloom at my place from March to November. I was collecting a large number of wildflower seeds before my heart knocked me down to the dirt but not under. Almost two years later I think I am well as I am gonna be. I have no idea what happened to the seeds I had saved. The ladies cleaned up for me. I am going to start harvesting again come next spring.
That's why there are rules already in place for DG that say NO political talk. So there isn't any mud slinging by uninformed people. This is the 3rd thread I have seen on DG about this and the RULEs clearly state NO political talk. No exceptions!
Here is the link to the movie The Future of Food a friend posted here on another thread...
It's 1 hour 28 minutes long so make time to watch it... it's quite interesting.
