CLOSED: what sparrow?

Rockport, TX(Zone 9a)

This sparrow does appear to be different from the other ones b/c of the white eye-ring. Couldn't be a grasshopper sparrow could it? I have 3 pics of this one.

Probably Vesper Sparrow. Again, some habitat clues would help!

I was trying to take a pic of the hawk in the dead tree. It flew off before I walked close enough. Behind the dead tree was another leafless tree and a pile of broken branches. Three of these sparrows flew into that leafless tree. It was on the edge of a large tall grassy/wetland area.

Trying to get the sliver of moon in this shot, but it does show the trees at the edge of the grassy area.

Thanks! Looks good habitat for Vesper Sparrow, so safe to call it one.

Excellent! That's a new one. I believe that I did hear the call that they describe in the book too. Thank you! Thank you!

That's a Vesper, and one I've not seen yet!

Congrats on an excellent find. :)
