Purple Hyacinth Beans (lablab purpureus)

Have any of you ever eaten these? If so, how did you cook them and how did they taste?

I have never eaten them (and would not as long as I had something else to eat) since the dried beans are poisonous until boiled long enough in at least two changes of water.

patrob, I'm glad you posted that link! I thought they were poisonous but didn't know where to go to check. I don't have my Tabler's anymore. I'll save that site for future reference!

Don't know how many remember that there was an article on Dave's Garden a few years ago about the Hyacinth bean and quite a bit of info in plant files..I grew some 2 years back and they did not do all that good for me ,the lady that gave me the seeds had a fence that was covered and they were quite striking ..She had them where they got lots of full sun and I don't have even one spot that gets full sun except in winter LOL
