I have a small Oak tree that came up in the very center of one of my Day Lilly beds ,My question is what kind of Oak is it
Leaf Peepers
At this stage, it is very difficult to say because seedling oaks don't same the same shaped leaves they do as mature oaks. Look around you neighborhood. You may be able to narrow it down to those found there. If the seedling isn't within falling distance from a tree, it may have been planted by a squirrel as part of its winter stash.
It kind of looks like Blackjack oak, check this out;

I am going to go with Veronica here, it is just too hard to tell with young seedlings. I have seen young Red Oaks that had leaves just like Willow Oaks until they are three or four feet tall.
Kinda what I was afraid of ,crazy thing no two leaves are alike ..Big tall Red Oak to the north about a half block away ,But almost never get North winds so that not too likely ,most like from a huge white oak from across the street ,just never connected the juvenile factor..
White Oaks usually do not have the stickery points like these leaves have.
Just a short hop up to the mountain so stopped up there yesterday and checked the Blackjacks and pretty sure it is a winner,so will dig it out It is about 5 years old and only 18" tall ...
