I haven't posted here in a while, but have been lurking, and following everyone's updates.
My 8 year old Sammi needs everyone's good thoughts and prayers as she goes in for surgery tomorrow, 11/11. We discovered a couple of lumps in her mammary glands, and yesterday's vet appointment confirmed our fears. A chest x-ray shows that it hasn't metastasized. She has lumps in the mammary chain on both sides. He's do the largest first, and as long as he doesn't have to take too much tissue, he will do the second side. He said sometimes having to do a double mastectomy there isn't enough tissue once the tumors are removed, to close up properly. So, if he can do both sides, he will, if not, once she's healed, she'll go back in for the other side.
I'll have to post some pictures of her when I get home from work. There are a couple of very old threads on her mishaps. She broke her leg as a puppy, and as a 2 year old ended up tangled in barbed wire, after getting loose and lost in Indiana, she thankfully made it to a backyard where she was found, too entangled to even stand up. She came though both of those incidences with flying colors, I'm praying she makes it through this one with as good a result as those.
