Please help. I have a beautiful monarch flying around in my pool cage. I tried opening the doors and shooing it with a broom, but the cage is too tall. I placed a shallow dish with orange segments near the door and moved all my flowering orchids to the door area as well. The poor thing is just fluttering helplessly against the screen.
The neighbor suggested I spray it with water hoping the wings would be too heavy to fly. That sounded like a horrible idea to me. Please help.
HELP! Monarch stuck in my pool enclosure!
I have no idea but if no one answers you, you can call a zoo and speak to someone who knows about butterflys, assuming there is one in Naples or the area. I called about a caterpillar eating my parsley and they knew exactly what it was. Hope the little guy makes it.
Go to the dollar store and buy a butterfly net for $1, cover him with the net and gently grasp his wings - BOTH of them together, so you don't injure him, then take him outside and turn him loose.
I live in Florida and have birds and butterflies in my Florida room every day - easy to catch and release.
When the sun is up it will try to go that direction. So if you have a door or window you can open when the sun in shinning in, it will fly that direction. After the sun goes down it will roost. Find out where it is late in the evening and try netting it then. The mist of water would not hurt it, but if it fell in a puddle or the pool it might die. Good luck
I got the net, climbed up on the top peak of the ladder and got it. I think the poor thing was exhausted. It took several tries but it was worth it. Thank you!
