Its that time of year to start pulling out the ol' covers for my beds. I heard that you can just hose them off and stick them in the washing machine. Has anyone ever done this? Will it ruin them?
Row covers in the washing machine?
I should add these are the thick heavy duty kind.
I put mine in the washing machine but we have a front loader. The tub type washing machine might tear the row covers.
I put one of mine in the washing machine, washed it on gentle and super large size water. Came out fine. That was a year ago. I have your basic Sears top-loading washer.
What a terrific idea. I wish I had gotten to pull all of mine up before it snowed here. At the age of 56 you'd think I'd know enough not to put this off. I keep thinking oh it won't get cold for awhile yet.
I do that with my hose. It's frozen in place for the duration now.
It worked. I put them in on gentle cycle, cold water in a top loader.
