You're looking for a place and everywhere you turn they say no to Chickens and bees???
I'd like to get a place close to my job where I can have both or either one....
I have found several places but the town or city ord say no chickens allowed and no beekeeping ..
Now what do I do??
I've thought about relocating but just not sure where i want to go..Plus I have a good and stable job and don't wanna
start over at the bottom wage..
Thanks
What to do when ...
Wow, sorry, I have no clue.
How far would you have to go to get out of a town or city? Would that distance be too far to commute?
I would agree, it would be stupid to give up a good paying job these days. And you can't keep chickens in a remote area without tending to them on a daily basis, do you possibly have a friend in the country that you can co-op with? Perhaps you buy the chickens and share the feed costs while they tend to them and y'all share the eggs.
Bees, you can tend to occasionally unlike chickens. I have a brother in law that sets his hives on a farm in a rural area and checks on them weekly. Just a thought.
Meanwhile, you can work toward your final goal of relocating when you find the right homeplace and work toward accumulating all the tools and equipment it will require.
Good luck.
BTW, I do know some that keep chickens in a town when not supposed to. They don't have a rooster (due to noise) and keep the pen clean so no odor. If the neighbors know, they say nothing or perhaps they are baited with shared eggs.
A farmer with an orchard might be delighted to have you keep some hives on the property.
There are a lot of chicken coops disguised as playhouses etc. for the stealth chicken keeper.

Especially nowadays.
Besides trying to stay off the radar as far as the law goes... not too difficult if you keep just a few hens & keep 'em clean & confined... I'd move just over the city limit line. It's not usually that far, generally much smaller than the actual urban area, at least in the west.
I'd definitely look for a place outside town. I've never hard of a restriction on bees. Seems like everywhere would be glad to have them at the rate we are losing them.
