Thank you!

I had received this flower in a bouquet a few years ago and no one knew what it was called. Thank you for solving the mystery! I was convinced that it was a dyed flower. It really is beautiful and it dried very well! I will certainly look for it for next season. I hope it grows in the northeast!

I'm glad to have helped!
It did not do well here, sadly. I do have a couple of them trying to hold on, but only with a few leaves. They might be biennials here : ( I do have them in amended, but very clay, soil, which is probably why they're not thriving.
But they're worth the cost and effort!

Really lovely photo! I have this variety and another. They are very hardy by the water here on Long Island. They don't like (or need) much water in my garden.

mine didn't survive here in florida even though i had it in a dry spot...it was an experiment. sigh.

I planted several groups of these last fall. They came up beautifully and were absolutely a gorgeous blue all the way down the stems. In the last week or two, they look as if they are dying! Turning brown and yellow toward the bottom of the stems and the blue is definately fading. What's happening? We live in southwest Michigan, they are in full sun, get plenty of water and the soil is sandy mixture so it is well drained and they are not getting soggy. Can anyone help me figure out what happened?

"get plenty of water".....they like it on the dry side from what i understand.

Not just a beautiful picture--plantaholic gets credit for designing that beautiful scene. But I'm dismayed at the comments as I want to get an eryngium, maybe Big Blue, and I have clay soil and usually plenty of rain...

treesmoocher, thanks for the compliment! It's so hard to find that particular shade of blue, and I was so hopeful. Every year I plant Allium caeruleum for the same blue, although they really are annual for me!
