Plumeria leaves

Larsen, WI(Zone 5a)

What happens if Plumeria leaves don't drop from plant during the winter months? Is it a problem even if I no longer water them anymore?

consider yourself lucky! I don't water mine unless they start losing their leaves.

Larsen, WI(Zone 5a)

Well if your plants don't lose leaves then what do you do during the dormancy period? I'm really looking for anyones opinion on growing these plants in zone 5 or less, I don't like to be rude or anything but your reply is not what I'm here for.

Barry I'm not in your zone but I've read that people will pull the leaves themselves to 'help' their plumi into dormancy.

Larsen, WI(Zone 5a)

Ohww, Ok thank you careyana....

your plumeria are most likely already dormant in the sense that there is no active growth at the tip. my plumies are full of leaves right now but all of the tips are dormant. i will be cutting of the leaves around thanksgiving.

My leaves are for the most part, gone from my Plumeria as I brought them in the garage last week...but now some of the tips are getting soft...what shall I do???

I have them in a large pot with some soil...the pot does NOT drain... should I give them a lil' drink once a week?? The pot is sitting next to an EAST facing window...morning sun does filter thru..I have them all sitting on a rug, so they aren't directly on the cold concrete..

were the ones that are gang potted once in individual containers? if so, how did you go about digging them up?

Brandon, FL(Zone 9b)

No, the ones that are gang potted, were all in the ground...I gently dug around the roots till they were free...

Victoria, BC(Zone 8a)

I wouldn't give them any water at all. I was told to wrap my cuttings in newspaper - bare rooted and leave them in a cool place for the winter. I followed these instructions and they are all doing very well.

Something like this...

it all depends on the grower's climatic conditions.

Brandon, FL(Zone 9b)

I took the Plumeria's outta the garage a few weeks ago, still have them mass potted , but they wait for nothing, already putting on a show with the leaves.

((am having allergy problems but hoping to get them in the ground next week))

yay dirtygirl. this is a happy time of year for plumie growers. hope your allergy symptoms can be alleviated.

I've got several year old plumeria seedlings. When fertilizing these young seedlings, do I withold the Aluminum Sulphate? Since I have a mature plumy, I know for sure that it needs Aluminum Sulphate as well as Bloom Booster fertilizer.

Any comment would be appreciated....

Thanks,
BARRY
